— WHAT IS AMBIENT AIR MONITORING —
Ambient air quality (AAQ) monitoring measures pollutant concentrations in the open atmosphere around industrial facilities — at plant boundaries, sensitive receptor locations, and within the airshed. Required by GPCB under CTO conditions and by MoEFCC for Environmental Clearance (EC) compliance and EIA baseline studies.
Mandatory for GPCB CTO & EC Compliance
GPCB consent conditions specify AAQ monitoring locations, parameters, and frequency. MoEFCC EC conditions require post-project ambient monitoring submitted in half-yearly compliance returns.
EIA Baseline Studies — 8–12 Locations Required
New projects requiring Environmental Clearance need pre-project AAQ baseline data at 8–12+ locations over 3 seasons. NABL-accredited data is mandatory for EAC acceptance.
NAAQS Compliance Verification
Monitoring data compared against National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS 2009) — demonstrating that your facility does not cause unacceptable air quality impacts on surrounding communities.

— OUR PROCESS —
Our 6-step ambient air monitoring methodology follows CPCB/NABL requirements — traceable, documented, and accepted by GPCB and MoEFCC.
Selection of ambient air quality monitoring locations based on GPCB consent conditions, EIA guidelines, wind rose data, and sensitive receptor locations. Number and placement of monitoring stations determined per CPCB/MoEFCC requirements.
High-Volume Samplers (HVS), Low-Volume Samplers (LVS), and gas sampling apparatus deployed at each monitoring location. Meteorological instruments installed for simultaneous wind speed/direction, temperature, and humidity recording.
Continuous 24-hour ambient air sampling at all locations per IS 5182 and CPCB methods. PM10 and PM2.5 by gravimetric analysis, gaseous pollutants by absorption in reagent solutions. Strict sampling schedule maintained for regulatory validity.
All collected filter papers and reagent solutions analyzed at our NABL-accredited laboratory (CC-2480). PM by gravimetry, SO₂ by West-Gaeke method, NOₓ by Jacobs-Hochheiser, CO by colorimetry. NABL uncertainty quantified for all parameters.
Measured ambient concentrations compared against National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS 2009) for all parameters and averaging periods (24-hour and annual). Trend analysis and receptor modeling support provided for EIA and EC compliance.
Comprehensive ambient air quality monitoring report in NABL format with all QA/QC documentation, NAAQS comparison tables, meteorological analysis, and trend graphs. Ready for GPCB consent compliance, EC half-yearly returns, and EIA chapter submission.

Prism set up 4 AAQ monitoring stations across our plant boundary for the MoEFCC EC baseline study. Their NABL-accredited 24-hour monitoring data was accepted by the Expert Appraisal Committee without any query. Professional execution from sampling to report.
We needed continuous ambient air monitoring around our plant for GPCB consent compliance. Prism installed equipment, conducted 24-hour PM10 and PM2.5 monitoring at 4 locations over 3 months, and provided monthly NABL reports. Their data has been consistently accepted by GPCB.
For our new plant EIA, we needed one year of baseline ambient air quality data at 8 locations. Prism managed the entire monitoring program — equipment installation, regular sampling, meteorological data collection, and NABL reports. The EIA consultant was very satisfied with data quality.
