What Is a Airlock Valve?
A rotary airlock valve (also called a rotary feeder or cellular wheel airlock) is a valve used to discharge bulk solids (powders, granules, pellets, dust) from a hopper or dust collector while maintaining a pressure differential across the valve. The rotating cellular wheel (rotor) with adjustable clearances between rotor blades and housing ensures continuous material flow without air leakage.
E Industries manufactures rotary airlock valves in a range of materials — cast iron (CI) for standard applications, SS304 for food and pharma, SS316 for aggressive chemicals and sterile applications, and Teflon-coated for sticky or abrasive materials. Sizes range from 50mm to 600mm in both standard and heavy-duty configurations.

Continuous Dust Collector Discharge
Pulse-jet bag filters and cyclone dust collectors accumulate dust in hoppers that must be continuously or intermittently discharged. Without a rotary airlock, opening the hopper equalises pressure and disrupts the collection system. The airlock maintains the negative pressure while allowing controlled dust discharge.
Pneumatic Conveying System Feeding
In pneumatic conveying systems, the rotary feeder meters bulk solid material into the conveying air stream at a controlled, consistent rate. Metering accuracy directly affects conveying efficiency, product quality, and batch accuracy in pharmaceutical and food mixing processes.
