What It Means & Why It Matters
Hardness tester calibration is the process of verifying the indicated hardness values of a Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers, or Shore durometer against NPL/NIST-traceable certified reference test blocks at the applicable loads and scales per ISO 6508, ISO 6506, ISO 6507, or ISO 868.
Two critical states are documented: As-Found (pre-calibration deviation from reference block value) and As-Left (post-adjustment accuracy). Repeatability and reproducibility at each scale are calculated and documented.
Prism Calibration Centre performs all hardness tester calibration under NABL accreditation CC-2480 (ISO/IEC 17025:2017). Certificates accepted by ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949, BIS, and quality auditors across Gujarat and India.

Every hardness calibration follows our documented ISO 6508/6506/6507 procedure — traceable, repeatable, auditable.
Intake & Documentation
Hardness tester received and tagged. Type (Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers), scale, load range, make, model, serial noted. Pre-calibration condition documented.
As-Found Measurement
Indentations made on NABL-traceable certified reference test blocks at defined loads. As-found hardness values recorded at the required number of impressions per ISO 6508/6506/6507.
Reference Comparison
Measured hardness values compared to NPL/NIST-traceable certified reference block values. Error and repeatability calculated per applicable ISO standard.
Adjustment / Correction
Machine adjustments made where manufacturer permits. Indentor geometry and load verified. Correction tables issued for machines with non-adjustable readings.
As-Left Verification
Post-adjustment readings verified against reference blocks at all required scales and loads. Expanded uncertainty calculated per ISO/IEC 17025. Pass/fail recorded.
